EARS TO HEAR

The Elephant is my Father

I dreamt of him at an early age

When Tarzan Goes to India was filmed on location

The Ancient ruins were used to amaze!

The same day I went on an elephant ride

In a little shopping center in East LA

Coming home, I watched TV,

The black and white Johnny Weismueller was on the

swinging vines

And in my dreams that night

I awoke outside the ruins

Met two little children who came to shake my hand

And led me through the maze

I saw the elephant,

Legs crossed,

Sitting on a throne

He spoke to me in my own mind, as clearly as a song,

Of times to come

Back there in old LA

And I begged him to let me stay!

I knew, when I returned home,

I'd forget all that he'd said

He agreed it was probably true

But that I could not stay

There were things for me to do

So I begged again "Please, at least,

Grant I don't forget this Dream!"

And to that he would agree

And, returning the secret way through the ancient

ruins,

With my two angelic friends,

Again we shook hands and said our fond farewells

I awoke and it was morning

And I was home again!

But, 45 years later,

I still recall the dream

The meaning may elude me

The words he said I have no clue

Or perhaps it's clear:

The elephant is my father

And he will always be near

No matter how far away

In time and distance I may stray

I'll write this poem

For those to come

Remember your true home

And, asleep or waking,

Always know:

Dreams can lead you to Heaven's OM!
